Prof. Niki Evelpidou speaks about the upcoming training school of the EnvStories Project
The Faculty of Geology and Geoenvironment of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, under the supervision of Professor Niki Evelpidou, organizes a five-day intensive educational training school on "Sustainable development in primary education through the creation of interactive digital stories".
The training school is organized under the Erasmus + Program, with the acronym Envstories, sponsored by the State Scholarship Foundation (IKY). The training school will be attended by 30 students of 5th and 6th grade of elementary shoocl as well as 10 teachers from Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Spain and Italy. The activities of the educational school will start at 11/11/2019 - 15/11/2019 at the Department of Geology and Geoenvironment of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and at selected educational places in Athens. During the five days, students, as well as their teachers, will get in touch with the five environmental themes that the project deals with:
Health and environmental impact on society
Natural Environments
Geophysical hazards
Depletion of natural resources
Waste management and recycling
In addition, students and teachers will be trained on the new Envstories interactive environmental story creation platform. The first stories to be created at the training school on Athens, will be the first step in creating a series of interactive stories where students will compose them, having first set out their environmental problems and impacts and then the solutions that can be provided.
Exept the educational interest, communication, collaboration and exchange of ideas among participants as future members of our society on environmental issues and sustainable development are at the forefront.
Dr. Niki Evelpidou and her team, consisting of people with expertise in environmental issues and primary education, will have the role of traininers during this school. Also, members of Omega Technology will train the participants on the technology component of the interactive platform.
